over the last few weeks i've noticed my cham gnawing on things in his viv. he has chewed on the rim of his water bowl, cable ties and branches, so all quite hard objects and i'm worried that he might damage his jaws. is it possible for him to do some damage to his teeth etc? do i need to try to stop this behaviour, and if so, how?

i have seen this in 3 of my panthers i dont know why they do it but i think thir just checking out what things are the younger ones do it more but i just got a 14 month bb (norm) and for 3 days he did it! but he has stoped. my 3 month old nosybe is still doing it after like 2 weeks being in his new home im sure they know not to bite to hard i hope

also the watter bowl should not be used for watter but i do use a small bowl under my mist nosel to stop from filling the cage but i empty it every day

Please get rid of his water bowl. Chameleons don't recognize still water. They lick the leaves on the plants for water. Water bowls are bacteria breeders.

my cham only drinks from the water bowl, it's how the breeder kept him with his siblings and they all had to learn to use the water bowl. he obviously does understand that it is a source of water as i see him drink from it almost every day. it is never in there more than 24-36 hours without the water being changed.

the issue i have is with him chewing hard objects in his viv

like i said he is just testing thing if you start to see his mouth looking red or swalon than i would start taking hard things out of his viv

also i would change the watter as much as you can cleaning the bowl everytime you do this will help keep clean my first female veild was the same way would only drink from a bowl but you can stop that they will drink off the plants
