male vieled 7 months old
my care 5 months
cage 29 1/2"d x 38"w x 72"t

my reg vet had to go on "vacation" and wont be back for a few weeks. the other vets there wont look at him cuz they are not cham vets and have gotten in trouble in the past.

but anyways, few days ago it was nice and warm so i let him play in the back yard and he got spooked and jumped. i think he hit the rim of the planter. 2 1/2 foot fall.
vets said to put him in something he cant climb in till the cham vet gets back.

he has full use of everything and still has a really strong grip.
he seem really cranky though.

i was thinking of putting him in one of my smaller old cages but dont know if it will add unneeded stress or not.
he will let me touch the swollen spot for a lil with only making vibrating like sound when i push on it a lil.
it was soft the first day but today it feels hard like he hurt it again and dislocated his shoulder.
other than being cranky and not liking me look on that side nuthing has changed in the way he walks, eats, drinks, poops, roams his condo, or attack my cam.

so should i put him in a smaller cage or leave him be till my vet gets back

As long as he doesn't have an obvious break or injury I think he will be fine in his regular cage. He may have been bruised by it so that may be a little painful, which would make me irritable too. I think changing his cage is only going to stress him out, and stress isn't good for healing. If he's not having obvious problems I wouldn't be too worried. My chams have taken falls too.

I agree, he may be bruised but as long as nothing seems broken, he should be fine. Chameleons can take a fall or jump like quads do, but they seem to just go on. Keep him in his regular cage, leave him pretty much alone, and let us know how he is. Also try to relax, he will be fine.

I agree with jannb, keep in his regular cage to keep extra stress to a minimum. Keep an eye on him, but leave him alone for the most part. Let us know if anything changes.

I just want to give a little reassurance just in case it is broken.

I have 2 chameleons that have had broken limbs. One is a female panther whose front foot fractured. The other is my veild who was smashed by a plant. His two front legs had multiple breaks and a fractured back leg.
Both of them are completly healthy, happy and climb around like crazy.

I hope its just a bruise. I just wanted to let you know if it is a break he will be ok after a vet visit.

so i put my hand in his cage so he would turn around to let me see his other side but he climbed on my hand instead and wont get off. its been 30 mins so far. i even tryed holding my arm in his cage for 10 mins.

on the bright side he ate a leaf from my hand.

on the downside he trys to attack my coffee cup when i take a drink. and i know ima want to smoke soon :*(

at this rate its going to be some time before i can smoke. why couldnt he be nice and have been facing the other way.

other than the bottem the only open areas are the basking and feeding spots

In addition to what ferret said...as long as he's not falling he should be fine in his normal cage.

Gee...I think you have just developed a new method of getting people to stop smoking! (evil grin) It might be even more successful if you had to hold two chameleons! :)

well i finaly got him to go back in his cage. guess he knew its about bed time. i havnt gone that long without smoking out of work in a long time.
he still has a painfully strong grip when he doesnt move for a long time.

what a pain not being able to use both hands all day but it was also nice to spend that much close time.
