My panther passed away. Doc still isn't sure what it was. We think he was wild and sold as CB. He had a disease so my question is..... if I throw away everything inside the cage, ie: plant/vines etc and get a new board for the bottom of it and spray all the screen with bleach or a cleaning solution would it be ok to house another chameleon in?

Thank you.

Are you likely to find out exactly what killed your Chameleon?

If so, I'd wait until you find out before housing any Chameleon inside it just to be safe.

When my first Cham died from Coccidia I used Peroxide 40vol 12% to cleanse the cage before putting my new one in.

I may but i already spent hundreds of dollars tying to keep the little guy alive. When would you just throw the cage away?

I would clean it with 9%-12% hydrogen peroxide first and, like you said, throw out the other stuff.

I think it was a nasty fungus. His stool was always fine. But his skin was really bad with large black spots that we couldn't get better.

I am sorry to hear about your chameleon. I agree with Bernie. I would use the 40 volume peroxide to kill everything and let it sit in the sun a few days before I'd consider putting anything back in there.
