Cham Cam!

I was looking at a box of random projects and stuff and i found an old "eyetoy" usb camera from my old PS2. So it gave me the idea to set up a webcam on my cham cage. So i installed the drivers on my computer and found a good program to run it. Now I can see whats my little guy is up to from my iPhone. Its only showing the top part of his cage but he spends most of his time basking anyway. Has anyone else done this? Here's a screenshot from my phone.

I was running a webcam over ustream when I first got my cham. Generally it was okay, but the picture quality was disappointing, especially being shot through the screen. My hubby is very techie, so he bought a raspberry pi and some camera components to make me a tiny arduino webcam to mount inside the enclosure.

I told him to document the process so I can post it as an instructable.

I would pay(few dollars a month) a suscription to watch Chams live! It would give me something I enjoy to do when at work.:D:D:D

.....Someones wheel is spinning-haha

They have to be doing cool stuff though, eating, flaring up, head bobbing, etc.

LIVE ACTION!!!

If I had a dedicated Cham room or the I had Jim in the fish room, I might make it public, but it's in my bedroom and I just think that it would creep me out.

However, I think you might enjoy setting up a cam and watching your own chams even more.

LMAO.....

Except I would rather use cam money to buy more Chams. Maybe its only a $100, thats a nice Cham cage:)

I'm setting up multipule cham breeding projects, I MISS working with reptiles!!!

Haha, I didn't ask for anyone to setup a cam that would show _______ in the bedroom.

The only money I spent was 5 bucks for the app, but there are similar free apps that have a bit lower quality streaming. You can get a webcam with much betrer resolution than this one for like 20 to 30 bucks now a days. And thanks, here's a full pic of my cage. I figured I'll only have one Cham for a good while, so I'll go all out (relatively) with the setup, and treat him like a king. When Hawkeye is older I'd like to get a girl or two and start cranking out some true blues.

How well do those fern hold up, or does your boy just not try to climb on them?

Nice though, never thought about ferns.... Good humidity plant!!!

I don't have my chameleon yet, but I will be having 2 cams. I have one of them right now and it watches my 3 thermometers and 3 hygrometers. It is just a low def camera. I have a High Def camera on order that I will be able to watch the chameleon itself. I can't wait till that arrives and then I get my chameleon. Oh and they both have night vision as well.

I harvested them from my backyard where they grow in vast amounts. When I first potted them, a couple fronds died but now they are doing great. Hawkeye is only a tiny 3 month old and he can climb on them without a problem, however he rarely goes that low in the cage, he rarely leaves the ficus and vines. They are really just there to add some foliage to the bottom of the cage for looks. It keeps things from looking barren.

I also have a second one of those eyetoy cams. I took the IR filter out of it a long time ago and rigged up some battery powered IR led spotlights on it to make it night vision as well I'm still thinking about if I am going to hook it up and how.
