Ceramic Bulb or Light Bulb for basking?

Ceramic or light? Or would it be better to use both, the light during the day and the ceramic at night?

I have to use a ceramic for at least night because it gets too cold in the house right now. I'm talking 45-50 degrees cold on some nights, possibly colder though this is rare. It is also dry here so I run my fogger a few times at night so I don't want it to be cold AND wet.

Not necessarily more light is better. No light at night. They can cope with a drop at night. Although that may be a little cold for him. Try the ceramic at night or use a room heater on the coldest nights. Kath.

I do have a nice uvb light. Is there any other benefit to using a light for a source of heat other than the actual light of it?

Ceramic doesn't give off light- using it will not provide "more".

Chameleons are sun-worshipers. They strongly associate sunlight with warmth by instinct. Using a light source to provide heat works with their instincts in a natural way.

I don't see why a ceramic would be necessary, unless you just want to use it as a secondary heat source to raise the ambient temperature in your enclosure during the day and then leave it on for supplemental heat on the coldest nights. Down to about 50 is safe for panthers, 40 is safe for veileds, provided they can warm up during the day.
