Can't ship Dubia to Florida

Apparently there is a regulation/law that does not allow the commercial guys to ship Dubia to Florida. Anybody out there want to sell and ship me some?

They're illegal in the state, and a year or two ago they made an example out of a guy in Orlando by charging him I don't know how much money in fines for having had some shipped to him.

Look up discoid roaches instead. They are practically the same animal but they are Florida native, breed just as well, and have the same care. Here's a guy you can contact for them: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=314226

I have these and dusky cave roaches and I like them just as much as the dubia I used to have. And they're nice and legal, so you never have to worry about anything.

lmaooo. I can't believe you pubilically made this thread. haha

"You'll never catch me copa!!" lol

I have discoid roaches and they even look like dubias. There is a stiff fine and jail time if you get caught with dubias. I can give you a small amount of dubias as a starter colony if you want.

Jan,

That would be terrific. What type of container would I need to start my own colony?

Maybe I could meet you at the snake store (BSR) somethine this weekend, I'm sure I'll be over there a couple times lol

Just stick with discoid, and stay out of jail...

Oh sorry, forgot the [/sarcasm];)

I keep dubia and discoids in a large plastic storage bin.

Youll need to keep them at 90-ish F for them to breed well, so a heat mat, basking bulb, or some heat source is needed.

I feed mine turnip/collard greens, dusted with cricket crack, squash, and oranges all the time. I then add scraps of fruits and veggies periodically.

The oranges serve as a water source, and are believed to help promote breeding. ;)
