Are you 100% sure you understand the marriage agreement? I suspect she does have half ownership.
Forgive me for this, but you are a child. You may not have been given access to all the information that adults have.
Regardless, she is your father's wife and so "the woman of the house". That means her opinions out rank yours.
If it helps you to see her as the "evil overlord" do that...but understand that to get things your way, you have to make it so the evil overlord is satisfied.

The house still belongs to my dad and his ex wife, and my mom is on menopause, making her happy is difficult.

I made it up as far as I know, someone else in the world provably uses it too, it's a common thought when you're bored and like me.

I will keep the humour, helps when your school and household is as full of a**holes as mine. Having fun in life is better than dreading and being a downer.

I hope this isn't too bold to suggest...but you might try offering the woman some sympathy. Geeze, she's living in home her husband owns with another woman? That's demoralizing no matter how you look at it. She probably tries to control you and your room because it's the only part of the house she feels she can lay claim to. Perhaps if you acknowledged she has at least that much power in the house she lives in, she would be more inclined to leave your things alone.
Which gets me back to: ask her what she needs to be okay with the insects. What if they are in the garage? What if you rigged up a bin in the back yard? (I don't know where you live so can't say whether that's feasible. I keep my cricket in a storage shed in the backyard and that will be fine all year here).

It's at least worth a try.
