Cancer

TLDR: My chameleon has cancer. If you have had a chameleon have cancer, and had it undergo a treatment, please let me know.

Hey there! I recently foster failed with a veiled chameleon that got surrendered to us (wildlife department in a vet university). He had what we initially assumed was an infection, since his eyes were bulging and there was a mass in his forehead with a small hole that looked like a wound. We started treating him with antibiotic and he seemed to get better. When we did all that we could do, I took him to a clinic which turned out to be the one he had been seen in before being abandoned.

Turns out the wound is a biopsy site. And he has a diagnosis. Cancer.

The vet told me there isn't any treatment protocol in chameleons per se, but we both decided we would try and search for something that could be done. He's going to consult with colleagues and I'm going to talk to faculty specializing in cancer.

If you have had a chameleon have cancer, and had it undergo a treatment, please let me know. I'm willing to give experimental options a shot.

My little man and I would appreciate it a lot. Thank you for reading.

I have no experience with cancer but wanted to wish you both the best!! He looks like a happy healthy guy otherwise.
Sending thoughts and positive vibes your way. 😔

Can you post a couple more photos of the area where the biopsy was done and of the right eye area please?

I’ve had a panther chameleon that had eye cancer and survived with the surgical removal of it.

Here are some pics, right and left eye, as well as a pic of the day I got him and the biopsy zone. Unfortunately, the main tumor is right in his forehead, between his eyes. His eyes are collaterally affected (plus in the first picture he also had an infection).
