We bought a chameleon that is about 8 months old now. It appears that he has spurs but they are very small so we are not sure if he really is a boy or if it’s a girl.
Thank you! We got her about two months ago and was told it was a boy and that we had to wait until he got older to confirm. We didn’t see any spur but the guy said you can feel the bone were the spur is growing but that they are just small. Everything I have read makes me think girl though.
It's unfortunately common for the person selling the cham to mis-gender them.
I also have a female vailed, in the picture below you can see what looks like a spur. However in males it's much more pronounced, also as pictured.
Females will require a bit of extra care, as they lay eggs. Even without a male, like chickens they'll keep laying. So, you'll need a special place for her in the cage to lay the eggs. It looks like she's starting her receptive phase by her colors. I highly recommend reading this blog by @MissSkittles. And if you have any questions, or need help we're here, ask away!
