Can Wild Chameleon pass disease to Captive Chameleon?

My chameleon is now in the vet hospital because of an unknown issue. There is nothing wrong with him physically, but we are not sure. My friend, who also takes care of this chameleon, got another chameleon that he found from the wild and decided to bring it over one day. I did not think that was wise, but he only wanted to show me. After, he placed his chameleon in the box and then took my chameleon out to hold. Two days later, my chameleon is sick. Can disease pass from wild to captive?

Yea why not just because it’s captive doesn’t mean they can’t catch anything

Yes parasites can be passed from handling a wild caught chameleon then handling a healthy captive bred one.

Read this https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/quarantine.36078/ and treat any animal you bring into your collection as if were sick, it's overkill but better safe than sorry.
