My panther chameleon just loves fruit flies, and I was wondering if its safe for him to eat other types of household bugs. I read that brightly colored things like lady bugs and dragon flies are known to cause harm and even death, but what about other things? like spiders, house flies, wood bugs.. etc. I feed him crickets right now as his main food source, I'm just wondering if we find other bugs around the house if its safe to let him eat it.
Can panthers eat spiders and other bugs?

House flies are for sure safe for him to eat. I am not sure about spiders because of the venom, but I would bet that some spiders are OK and others are not. Grasshoppers are also good, although not the brightly colored ones, just green. However, keep in mind that all wild insects have the possibility of carrying parasites and pesticides.
I usually collect some grasshoppers on my mountain bike ride way back in the mountains and have not had any problems.
