can I use newspaper for my veiled chameleons cage?

It's very confusing as to whether you can use it or not because it can be harmful to the Cham. I really just need something to help keep his cage clean while I'm at school. And I was wondering if I can use newspaper and know for a fact that it will not harm my little guy. Thanks^.^

I use newspaper for my Leo and snake but my cham cage is bare. He never goes down there and I spot clean with paper towels

I used to use newspaper.

It is OK to use.

A friend once jokingly said he used a bio-degradable wood pulp absorbant sheets that could be wetted to release humidity slowly over time for his chameleons- he was talking about newspaper.

Just make sure it dries completely within a few hours of becoming damp from misting or splashes from a drip system, and make sure it is completely dry before re-wetting. Constant dampness without drying will invite mold and bacteria.

If you are worried about ink, you can use paper towels.
