hi

sorry if this is already on here, but ive just gone to turn his lights out n temp down an hes shedding, hes nearly fully shed so he wont take to much longer, but i normally turn his lights off and temp down now. what should i do? wait till hes finished or just carry on as usual? hes only 15 weeks and hes only ever shed during the day.

thanks

sorry if this is a completley stupid question i now it would just go dark and colder in the wild i just dont wanna do summet wrong

You don't need to turn the temps down unless it gets excessively hot in the cage/room or your house. Or if the Chameleon is opening his mouth quite a bit. Just boost up the misting while he sheds that will help him shed easier with the higher humidity.

Also keep the lights on 12 hours a day. You can turn the basking light off and leave the UVB light on if it is excessively hot in the room/cage or house as I have mentioned earlier.

Why are you turning his lights off during the day? If the temps are too hot then you should get a lower wattage basking bulb but he should always have his UVB light on for at least 10-12 hours during the day. UVB bulbs give off little to no heat so you shouldn't need to ever turn that off during normal daytime hours. You don't need to make it cooler because they're shedding, environment can stay the same.

It doesn't get darker in the winter except on the poles...cooler sure.

im not turning them off in the day. its half 8 at night here. i turned them on at half 8 this morning. and i set his heater to the temp i want his tank and it keeps it at that level. gets quite cold i live in the north west of england!!

If you turned them on at 8:30 in the morning and then you can turn them off at 8:30 at night if that is what you are referring to.
