Can chameleons yawn??

Random, I know, but I was just thinking how dogs and cats and birds and such can yawn, but idk about chameleons?!?

P.S. How many times did you yawn reading this??

I don't think they really yawn because they are tired.
It's rather when they prepare a moult, they open the mouth, swell and contort themself to crack the skin.
And yes, sometime, they seems to get mad

Yes, they do yawn sometimes - I agree with Nicolas though, it's probably not for the same reasons that we do.

My panther crawls up to his basking spot first thing every morning and yawns. It is one big yawn too, like flip top head style.

First time I seen this I thought my cham was going through spasms lol...

Not sure if they yawn, I know if they do it in the basking area they're regulated their body temps haha. Or they're pissed off at you :)

My chameleon yawns every morning. I think it's pretty cute! It's just like when we have a big morning yawn and stretch.

No, Kuzco doesn't yawn, but I was just curious if they could or not. I know that yawning in humans or animals doesn't really have a purpose, or at least it is "unknown" exactly why it happens. I just was sitting and watching my dog yawn and it got me thinking about it lol :D:D

not all yawning in humans is unknown.
sometimes if the body is in need of more oxygen, you yawn as it makes you take in more air at one time.

I have also heard that humans yawn when they need a blast of oxygen to the brain!! I yawn all the time...not sure what that says about me; either I need more oxygen or I need more sleep!!

As for my chams...both of mine yawn. It can be a bit surprising but you get used to it after a while. My guy likes to yawn when he wakes up...and my girl, well she yawns randomly. ;)

That makes sense... I yawn more when I'm exhausted (I go3 or 4 days without sleep) or when I have a stuffy nose. Lol

Bella (our Beardie) Yawns all the time. She also just recently learned to puff her beard, and now does it to us all the time lol. More so her daddy than me:rolleyes: She know's who raises the bugs and cleans the cages around here lol :p
