hi guys thought id start a new thread to keep you guys up to date with her progress (or non progress)

so far to give you her back ground

shes an 18month old veiled who retained 13 eggs in her second clutch of eggs, after to-ing and fro-ing from the vets for 2 1/2 weeks since the first half of eggs were laid she hadnt been eating for a week of that time, she ended up having surgery to remove the remaining eggs while in there he discovered her falopian tubes had ruptured and the reason for the retained aggs were because they were floating around in her abdomen (hence the injections he gave her didnt work) she had 12 eggs intact floating about the abdo but the 13th (unlucky for our cami) had ruptured and she had "scambled egg" inside her. he removed as much as he could and also removed her falopian tubes and ovaries so this never happened again. since her wound looks good and clean, we had a worrying day in sunday when a trip to emergancy vets was in order and an antibiotics shot helped her, shes still not eating and on critical care mix and being force fed (we mix it with water and syringe feed it)

shes been back again on our daily trip to the vets and we are all getting worried she still not eating its been 3 1/2 weeks now he is gonna look into appetite stimulants for her he knows that b12 can help in iguanas but he wants to check out if there is anything for cham's

any one advice please on questions to ask him?

I think it's going to take awhile to recovery from a surgery like that. Force feeding may also last for a long time. You are doing a great job caring for her. Keep up the good work and I'll keep on keeping my fingres crossed for her. Jann

Have you been able to get any of the Reptaid yet? If not I would def get some overnighted to you. My cham had been sick also just last week. I put an order in and after three days of double dosing him ,he is already made the turnaround and is eating on his own again. I had to force feed for about five days. We thought he had a parasite and he was going down hill fast with losing weight. I thought he was a gonner. With a lot of help from the very fine people at Northwest Chams he is back running around the cage again. He even flashed me yesterday, which was the same day he ate on his own. I know its totally different circumstances, but I would think it would do a world of good for cami. I just wish there was something like this for us!!! Good luck and hope she makes it!!!

im still trying to find somewhere in the uk that stocks it, if u know of anywhere please let me know.

Have you tried to contact Elliot at Northwest Chameleons? If he cant do it im sure he probably knows someone overthere that could. I would really look in to it, I really think it would help her out.

thanks i'll get right on it.

I sent you a PM. I've not heard of Reptaid in the UK, but my cham has not been ill so I've had no reason to search for it. However, I've heard on a UK forum that many rep keepers use Vetark's Critical Care Formula. Don't know whether it's the same kind of thing though. Might be worth asking your vet.
