yesterday at the Anaheim show, get a veil chameleon +o- 8 months is at screen 24x24x36 drip water.I am San Diego Near the border,
early feed was some crickets and a silkworm.
The problem.. at noon was with his tongue hanging long down.
it is solution? my experience don't give me a tip
Some of you can give me some help? what can I do?

that doesnt look good:(
should go take to the vet soon.
nothing to do to help put back tounge..
can you post picture please??
is the tounge still out??
Please fill the ask for help form..

If the tongue won't retract, then you have to keep it moist. If it continues to hang out, the chameleon won't be able to eat without biting its tongue off. You need to take it to a vet.

It could be hanging out because of a mineral imbalance, an injury, an infection or several other reasons.

Thank you all for the advice I will take him to the vet. hopefully is a remedy. \keep you inform will try later to post a photo.

Ojala que el vet sepa que ocurre y te pueda ayudar. Esto se puede causar por un numero de cosas, pero con suerte se cura y vuelve a su vida normal en poco tiempo. Cuentanos que va pasando con el y que recomienda el vet que hagas. Buena suerte!

Hopefully the vet knows what's happening and can help you. It could be any number of things but with luck he can be treated and return to normal in no time. Let us know what happens with him and what the vet recommends you do. Good luck!

Gracias por tus letras Olimpia.
vet comments.+ solutions= cause for a chameleon tongue not retractile.: infection, samples for analysis, injure for a spine, insect ?, dust or insecticide at the cage or at the leaves and trunk of the in-cage vegetation, ????
the best reason was the animal was packed shipped and display at the show, 24hours, was buyed for me and packed in a plastic cup, and travel two hours to my place, installed at the new environment. all this time with out any water not a single drop... blame on me... deshydratation a soon the vet give him water plus additives in 2 hours he was ready to go.
thanks all you for the advice
remember keep your chameleons hydrated.

Thank Jan for the advice good tips at your paper work.https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs...hameleons.html
For the Young veil chameleon is doing well,
Advice to new chameleons buyers, some ting to consider before you decide for a $50, 80, 100.00 chamaleon, is not all, $ 90 cage, $ 20.00 crickets, worms and food for them, $ 30.00 Nice ficus or any tree, $ 20.00 Vet consultation, $30.00 lab for parasites and salmonella exam. Plus 12 parking, 15 show entry, gas for driving there.
Fabulous learnig day at the show, at the end you get a little tiny lizard to love.

Dont for get the cost of the basking light and UVB linear light,
those are expensive.
And a chameleon cant just have ANY tree it have to be chameleon safe.

and temperature and humidity gauges, laying bins with sand (if you have a female), and vines and branches, and extra foliage, mist systems, or pump sprayers, hand misters, light timers (to make your life easier). blah blah. these buggers are expensive to get set up! lol
