Incandescents are unavailable in cali? I used to live there and I had incandescent.Hey guys,
Does anyone know good alternative heat/basking bulbs besides incandescents? I live in California so these types of bulbs are unavailable for purchase. I currently am using a basking bulb produced by reptisun but these can get pricey.
Any thoughts?
Thank you
I live in Cali... I use these... I really like them and bulb life is 9-12 months before they burn out. They provide an area of heat rather then a focused beam.Hey guys,

Those are even more expensive here.Do the still allow the ceramic heat elements ? I think that might be the only other option.
Next option is take a drive and stock up , depending on where you live. I am in Oregon and having very similar issues.
I'm also in Calif. And tried to order online from a couple different suppliers but they won't ship to Calif. Luckily I was digging around in the shed at my mom's house and discovered a whole box of old incadescent 60 watt bulbs that had been sitting there for years. Those are even more expensive here.

The one thing I like about the bulbs I buy is if they get wet they don't shatter or at least mine didn't. I don't mind the price. I pay about 4 bucks each when I buy 4 at a time. Honestly it is the cheapest upkeep I have lol.So in Oregon the Walmart has them for cheep. Maybe take a drive up the coast one weekend and stock up. I believe you can still get incandescent here, but they are getting hard to find.
I hate that they make the "reptile bulbs" last so short, it is like they know.
Next time I find incandescent I will stock up.

Oh no I avoid the pet store buying if at all possible lol.Yea thats not bad, I just see them at the pet stores for double that, but $4 is nothing.
