Calcium with d3 or without?

My question is, I have a uvb light. Does this mean I should use a supplement without d3?
As it is now I dust once a week with a mineral dust and 3 times a week with calcium with d3. Is this good?

Hello there! :)

The normal and most used schedule is
- Calcium with out d3 EVERY feeding
- Calcium with d3 twice a month
- Multi.Vit. also twice a month

Hope this helps :)

You should have both......

What species do you have? Alot of montanes require less D3 dusting then the other species do.

Young chams, I dust with calcium every/every other feeding and if only using a UVB bulb(no sun) dust 2x a month with D3. If your cham gets sun every day then you can dust only once with D3 or (species dependent) not at all as long as ur feeders are well gutloaded.

for my jackson i use calcium WITHOUT d3 once a week and calcium WITH d3 and multivitamin once a month

I believe you're using too little calcium without D3. While you don't want to overdo any supplements--especially those multivitamins or D3, you don't want to bring on problems such as MBD by undersupplementing, either.

You might want to have a look at Sandrachameleon's post and links for more detail.

With my Jackson's I pretty much avoided D3 altogether. That is too much for them and I would hold off on the D3 for several weeks. But plain, phosphorous-free calcium can be used a few times weekly. I would rely on gutloading much more heavily with a Jax vs. supplementaion.
