calcium overdose

I have read articles that have stated there are various conditions caused by too much calcium in a chameleons diet. But, Chameleons can actually dispel extra calcium from their systems. So, I personally think that the chameleons that were mentioned in the articles that I read must have had underlying metabolic issues that kept them from their normal bodily capabilities. That is just a thought. There is a member here, @kinyonga, that seems to be able to find a related article/study in regards to questions like these. Hopefully she will chime in here!

So you say that even if it's too much, she is going to urinate it out?
Thank you!

Although it is possible to overdoses calcium with the routine of supplementing and feeding/gutloading the insects I have used for years I have never had it happen/reported in any of my chameleons...this includes such species as veileds, panthers, quads, dwarf jacksons, common chameleons, parsons, oustalets, Comoro island, etc.

For many years I have used Repti-Cal phosphorous - free calcium powder, phosphorous - free calcium / D3 powder, and Herptivite.

I have fed/gutloaded insects with a wide assortment of greens such as collards, escarole, endive, dandelion greens, kale, etc and veggies such as carrots, sweet red pepper, squash, zucchini, sweet potato, etc.

This might help...you should read the vitamin A link in Dr. Lopez article too...
