Calcium in my cricket cage ?

Question please help :)

Would it be okay if instead of dusting my crickets everyday at feeding time, if i dust their little cage all together ???

Probably not a good idea. If they get too heavily dusted they tend to die off fairly quickly.

Are you trying to save time? It takes me about 30 seconds to shake crickets into a deli cup, add a pinch of calcium and feed. So I'm not sure what this accomplishes.

Insects like crickets/dubia shouldn't actually consume much, if any calcium because it actually causes problems with molting and results in death.

Hey no it wasn't to consume time it was just a question out of curiosity. I've never owned any reptile before so just wondering. Thanks for the info though.

Keep crickets ?? What do you mean ? Like i have them in their own little cage (box) thing idk what its called a cricket keeper im guessing.

Why do you keep crickets and have questions about dusting them with calcium if you do not own reptiles?

Crickets won't live for long with calcium on them. I've thrown uneaten ones that have already been dusted back in the cricket enclosure, and they always died on me, where I end up with white bodies.

Also, the powder becomes a paste when it gets wet, which will bind to the crickets, suffocate them, and make a huge mess. I once had the mister spray water into the feeding cup. I ended up with a big ball of dead crickets and mealworms, where the calcium powder that was on them just turned into a paste and they all stuck to each other and to the feeding cup. Wet, soggy, sticky mess.
