Hi! About to buy some calcium and some multivitamins, but I'm unsure if it's ok to use a pfosphor free calc (with d3 and w/o d3) with a multivit with phosphor?

Rep-Cal Herptiviet Multivit
ZooMed Repti Calcium with d3 (w/o phosphor)
ZooMed Repti Calcium w/o d3 (w/o phosphor)
I'm not sure if the multivit is w/o phosphor but since it dosen't say w/o I just assume it's with phosphor. Does any of you got any experiance of this?

Cheers!

Herptivite its pretty commonly used, I take it to be a god one I use the rep-cal brand with d3 with out and the herptivite from rep-cal I Like it. Have u considered the repashy calcium plus all in one? the mutlivit and d3 are so low u use it everyday and nothing more.

I preach it but do not practice it! Haha I like many spent plenty of money on the seperate powders and chose to stick with it..
The seperate powders have been used to for years the repashy is relativity new but many swear by it. So its at ur discretion..

What is ur supp. Schedual this far?
And welcome to the forum! It's an excellent place to be :)

This is about iguanas but still applies: http://journals.cambridge.org/downl...70a.pdf&code=cfcc9c613c1707bfff41ae708a1ef5e1

Basically there is more calcium than phosphorous in the calcium supplements because it needs to be in balance. I know a lot of insects have a lot of phosphorous, so for insectivorous animals such as chameleons getting their phosphorous from the bugs, they need less of it in the supplement.

From what I understand, the common cricket has 3x more phos. than calc., so it needs to be balanced with a phos.free dust.

You never want to use the multi-vitamin and the calcium/calcium with d3 all at the same time.

Use the plain calcium at every feeding, lightly.

Use the d3 lightly once a week for young chams, once every two weeks or once a month for adults.....females need more than males for egg production.

Use the multivitamin on one or two individual feeder insects once a week, or on all feeders once a month.

You'll learn as you go! It's important not to overdo it though. Personally, I think more people overdo it than underdo it.

Hi

What type of chameleon?

If a veiled or panther:
The Rep-cal Herptivite does contain phosphorous (about half as much as calcium) but that's okay. You would use this product about twice a month, instead of any other supplement.
The zoo-med with D3 is not a heavily potent product (low amount of D3), and could be used as much as weekly. Perhaps as little as twice a month (assuming you keep your chameleon under UVB lighting or it is outside some).
The Zoo-med calcium without D3 can be used the rest of the time, as and if needed (not all bugs need to be dusted).
If you gutload well and offer a wide variety of prey, supplementation is less of a concern.
In all cases - Moderation.
