cage/screen mesh

i just started to build my screen cage 25x25x60 inch that will house a baby veiled chameleon!i know that i should 1st get a small cage but i think i can manage to raise him from the start in this cage(in the wild they dont live in small cages so i guess that will be no prob)!
my problem is that i dont know what mesh screen to use -aluminium is the best?do you recommend other material?is aluminium window screen used to prevent bugs to enter the home ok to use?
if you have other things that you can recommend me or dont know anything else to say about this please let me know!
thank you!

I believe there is a softer type of screen available but I'm not positive...

don't forget to seal your wood with a low-VOC paint/stain

regarding the size and the wild, it should be fine (depending on just how young), but please consider that in the wild there is a large mortality rate. in captivity we are aiming for a 100% survival rate; not just "a" survival rate.

I'm sure someone else will hop in with the correct screening soon :)

i will make it from iron and after that treat it with special paint so it wont rust!or aluminiu!
for the size of the cage i think it will me ok as long as i keep the right themp and humidity!
if im wrong about materials for the cage or the size please tell me thank you

Yes the aluminum is the best. Some poeple have found it in black.. but i've only seen it in silver color.

As far as the cage, have you ever had a chameleon before? Their are reasons why most, if not all of us use smaller cages. Those little crickets are LITTLE. Its really easy for them to find places to hide from your cham. I really think it would be a good idea to get a smaller cage to use for a few months if your getting a young baby. But thats just my opinion :)

Good luck and post up some pictures when your done :)

well is finding food the only problem with big cages for baby cham?
but what about if i use iron and after that i spray it with zinc spray so it wont rust and look better?is zinc toxic?

I taught my baby veiled to cup feed in a small enclosure then moved him to a bigger one and he does just fine because I bring the food to him.

Anything can be toxic in large enough amounts, but it's not as though your chameleon is going to be eating the screen. I would think that as long as the zinc is adhered to the aluminum well and isn't flaking off/powdery and getting all over him that it would be all right.
