Ok, I have a medium size cage (not important to state the specifics) and I was wondering. How would it effect my chameleon of I took the top off of it? So it went from the cage to a branch that extends into openness. I only have one concern about humidity be effected greatly but would misting the lower part and cage help matters??

Are you suggesting you would like the cage to open up to create a free range above the cage?

if the cage is all screened/fresh air, humidity is probably already being lost. (depending on how many sides are screen)

What kind of chameleon is this for?

A panther. And yes free range but limited to just a branch that extends above the opening. I figure it would make the cham more accessable if he wants to be handled. And yes a screen

You could get a exo terra fogger and set it high up so the water vapour fall down. to keep the humidity level in that are. just a thought.

it will be perfectly fine, i would have ZERO concern about the humidity change

I *would* be concerned about him climbing up and out the sides. Whenever you free range, they will wander....but if you monitor them closely when you first free-range them (do it a few hours at a top at first and increase more an dmore) you will see where they like to go.
