I have a 30"x36"x72" cage but it is not set up. I'm planning on mostly live plants. Would a DIY drip system be ok? How often should the water be dripping and would a small plastic tub be ok for catching the water?

With a cage that size, you could afford to put in plants with oversized pots, which the drippers could feed into, eliminating the need for a catch tub.

If you are meaning that the plastic tub will be inside the cage, if its too deep the chameleon may drown.
