Cage change and now has a dark complexion.

I have just recently changed my chameleons cage. Could that be why he appears a darker color? He’s pretty dark. He had a viney wooden back board with vines and a pathos plant at the bottom. I just changed it so he has bamboo and vines along all around so he can reach every corner along with an umbrella plant at the bottom instead of the pathos. Every time I hold him he seems to get brighter in color. I put him back and he gets dark again. He was recently sick and that’s why I changed his cage. I changed it all yesterday. And it’s not like he climbs on the actually caging with the new cage layout. I have pictures of the new cage not the old one. Any suggestions?

While it is impossible to say for sure what the cause of the darker coloration is, a lot of owners (myself included) do find that their chameleons are resistant to change and switching the cage up can definitely piss them off for awhile. Do you have pics that demonstrate his dark colors? When's the last time he shed?

He shed about 2 weeks ago. And he’s darker then in the picture. For some reason he’s brighter in the picture.

He looks healthy to me. Just be sure to keep an eye out for behavioral changes! Hopefully he will just acclimate to it over time

Looks normal to me! It's pretty amazing how much their colors change over time, this is probably (hopefully) just a phase and not an indication of anything wrong
