Cage and Lighting Setup

Hey all,

I need help or suggestions on how to setup my new Chameleon Cage. I went from a 100 gallon Flexarium to the 260 Gallon Flexarium.

I have 2 live trees in there now a hibiscus tree and a umbrella/money tree, I bought a bunch of fake vines from Michael's, and I also have some fake bendy vines. The only thing is I have one clamp light with a 100Watt bulb, and of course his 5.0 UV light, but I don't want to rest them on the top of the flexarium since it is too high.

Any suggestions anyone?? I have an idea of what I want to do, but I'd like to hear your imputs to get maybe some better ideas of my own.

Thanks

Do you know if your plant is Money tree or an Umbrella Tree?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I am under the impression that a money tree is Pachira Aquatica and an umbrella plants are Schefflera.

I have read some conflicting information where Pachira Aquatica can be toxic to Chameleons. I would love to know the answer to this myself as I am not sure.

Here is a thread on it

Hey Shaner,

With something that big I would probably go with a fixture mounted to the ceiling hanging over the Cage for the UV. Keep it up and out of the way. I have seen people who have some kind of stand standing next to the cage that point basking bulbs into the cage. That may be the option you are looking for. Maybe a big metal bakers rack would give you a place to put your cage, and a place to mount the lighting. Shoot the easiest thing to do, depending on your climate... would be to just stick that sucker outside and let the sun do the work.

Hope that helps a little,
Joe

edit: MONEY TREE!?!?!? I want one! ...j/k ...When you say money tree... do you mean the little plants with the ribbons that people put money on and give as gifts???

Hey Ryan,

It is an umbrella tree so everything is fine, but thanks for letting me know about that.
