Well, today I am getting about 30 bucks for selling a turtle and turtle tank to my friend, and I want to buy some Schefflera plants and a Ficus from LLLreptile, but i was wondering if it would be too cold now? We have about 3 inches of snow on the ground and its freezing :(. So is it a good idea to order some plants this time of year? thanks Zac

that would be a no

No; that would be foolish. Wait 'til spring.

I ordered a ficus from lllreptile last week, its been about 40 degrees and they packaged the plant very well and it arrived in good shape.

you dont have any homedepos out there???

Has anyone ever sent a thermometer that keeps track of temperatures in a box to ship? I've always wanted to know what actual temperatures are. Perhaps they are always in a temp-controlled area except when going to the house.

I sent flowers to my grandma one Christmas, from a reputable flower company. It was snowing where she lived and they arrived frozen. It all depends on the shipping company really. If they let the plant sit on the truck and it's not temp-controlled it can/will die.

You can get a nice scheff from just about any Walmart for ten bucks...
I don't see them at my WalMart any time of the year, and I think most stores aren't stocked for plants in the winter like they'd be stocked in the summer.

lucky For me I have a lowes and a home depot across the street from each other where i live. Both are good about having them.

I'd be willing to bet those who have Lowes/Home Depots and whatnot that stock those plants around now also have a large consumer base, whereas places like my location, Arizona (dry, hot) or South Dakota (frozen) may not have as many buyers. Oh the joys of supply and demand.
