Butterworms

have any of u had their buttworms stay in their sleeping state for more than 3 days?????

i bought a cup of 25 a few days ago. the butterworms are still stiff as a board! they arent dark in color, they are very yellow/orange and nice looking.

would be a shame if they got too cold and died? i have them under a red light, theyre in the 80 degree range.

any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

I thought my waxworms died when I first got them, you just need to let them warm up - but not too quickly! Don't try to cook them.

If they were dead they probably would have started turning black already.

yeah, im going to give em more time. not like i can go to the local crappy petstore and return em!

anybody feed them anything to fatten them up, or just hydrate them once theyre active?

Why is it that Butterworms are so damn expensive? Gosh! As if they excrete silver or something.

No need to hydrate if they are plump. They do not eat. They will last MONTHS in the refrigerator.

Butter Worms come from Peru, and are radiated to stop them from reproducing. With the radiating and the shipping, the cost has been, and will be high, there is very little mark-up in Butter Worms.
Butt Worms on the other hand are quite available locally, but difficult to harvest, and hard to raise in captivity, I am told.

Sounds to me like you were sold dead ones. or you got them too cold.
They shouldnt be stiff.

Before you buy them, ask to see them and make sure they are MOVING
