Butterworms and flies

Does anyone know of a local supplier where I can order both of these items? I can't seem to find one.
I don't want the flies to hatch all at once which puts me off ordering from out of state. Also, if they do hatch, how do you feed them with honey and water? Mix the two and put it on a sponge or something?
So sad that i couldn't go to the big Reptile show in L.A. This weekend. Bloody work!

You can keep the fly pupae in the fridge for a week or so until the hatch rate starts to drop off. Different species of flies will last in the fridge different lengths of time. I think blue bottles last the longest.

As for feeding the flies what I do is use juice container lids. One lid gets the gutload and the other has a small piece of paper towel soaked in water . I put one of each in each deli cup a day before I expect the pupae to hatch. Once the pupae hatch I let them eat and drink for a day before feeding them off.

To easily feed the flies to your chams just put the deli cup in the fridge with the flies for a couple of minutes. The cold will slow them down long enough for you to tap some into the cage.

Thanks for the help. I ordered some butterworms from Elliotts and will get some flies from the mantid place as soon as I can figure out the confusing shipping information. Piko will soon be a happy camper, as she is BORED with the crickets, blase with her dubias, and indifferent to the superworms. (Sigh)

Shipping on fly larva or pupae from Mantis Place is $6.50. You could have ordered the butterworms from there also and saved some shipping costs.

Spottea, I get my Bb flies from the mantis place usually. I have had varying success doing so. Sometimes that are all hatched and sometime not. Sometime Steve has them at the meeting also. There was someone in Downey that advertised here that sold them but I haven't been able to get a reply from him lately.
