Butter worms

Well, looks like Rebel does not like butter worms... I left them in his cage for a couple of days and he will not eat them. I even tried putting them in with crickets and super worms. He ate the crickets and super worms and left the butter worms. Would it be ok to only offer butter worms for a few days and see if he will start eating them? I'm now worried that he won't eat the silkworms I just hatched. This is the first time he has refused to eat what I have offered. Hes a super eater and I'm hoping he doesn't start getting picky now.

Just keep trying, he is just not used to them. You can give him a few days of offering nothing else, he will be fine. If after that offer him his regular fare and then try again. He may never like them, but you need to give him a couple runs at them.

THey are a great feeder, in fact, I need to order some more!!!

some chams don't like them. Yours may be one of those.
but its odd he didn't even try them. Is he not used to eating larva? Maybe he's not yet associated larva with being prey?

He ate one the first day but has refused them since. He has eaten anything offered. Meal worms, wax worms, phoenix worms, BB flies, supers, silks, and horn worms. I'm not giving up. I'll keep trying them because they are so healthy.

Maybe hes not eating them because of the smell. I can't stand the way they smell. I'm sure I'm just sensitive to it but its so strong to me. Hes looking at them now but hes not attempting to eat them...

My cham won't eat butter worms either.

Last time I fed my Veiled butter worms this happened.. To this day he still has a weird shade of green under his chin. That scared me enough to not ever try them again.

This has happened on multiple occasions from what I remember this doesn't hurt or affect the chameleon but will stain his skin. Many threads on this subject.

I have no clue but I know it has happened with other members and their chams.
