Burns appear brighter than the rest of the body, especially when the chameleon goes dark. I think you are looking at some type of infection, bacterial, fungal, or even viral.
that's what it looks like . the only thing is its in a rare part' of the body. it can also be a bruise. wild caught s have those sometimes.my wc came with one of those.not saying yours is wc .
He's really dehydrated. Were bottle feeding him water now and super weak. Sleeping a lot. We rescued him. I stroked over it and it didn't hurt him.. Felt very dry and crusty though.
I can't tell what that is, but it does look thin and weak, I know you will do whatever it takes to get him back to a healthy boy....best of luck and my thoughts and prayers for you and him.
in the first picture it looks like an open wound like it has depth, does it?
i would personally go to a vet and get it checked out it could be a burn but since its in such an unusual spot it could be an infection. either way the vet would be a huge help!! if you dont know a good reptile vet we can try to find you one if you want to go to one
its great that you are dedicated it saving him. please keep us updated on if you take him to the vet and whats happening with him!!
Its driving me nuts... Its hard to the touch.. Looks like burnt plastic. One he was dehydrated and not properely kept.. Look like the heat lamp burnt part of his cage and I wonder if that's where it came from. Previous owner states it is left over skin that didn't shed.
yeah it does look like burnt plastic. im worried it need ointment if its a burn or antibiotics if its an infection.. it really doesnt look like its going to heal on its own, its pretty large and nasty looking!! if you have the ability to take him in to a vet i really would!!!
i looked on the arav vet list for a vet near you, unfortunately i dont know the area well so im going to post the link to the list. http://www.arav.org/find-a-vet/
thats a site that has vets who are experienced with reptiles
Thanks for checking in Its an infection from being burnt and in a poor habitat... He's also got a little burn on his casque as well .. Had a vet look at it I've been treating everyday for the past three days and so far it seems to be going fine.. Ill update when I see some real progress with it
im glad to hear you took him to the vet and got him something to treat it with!! poor fella, got burnt and then infected
glad hes in good hands now tho will definitely be looking for when he is all fixed up!! how has he been adjusting to his new home?
He's so precious and tame !!! Very cooperative ! He loves his new home, enjoys climbing and perching, poor guy never had it. In the morning my fiance puts him on our bed and he climbs right up to me and somewhere comfy with me along the blankets I never in my life would have imagined him being so sweet and so patient with us now while doing his care.
thats awesome!!! sounds like he has settled right in with you two so glad he has found his place in this world, it is always great to hear those stories where the poor little ones that werent taken care of right get taken in and given the life they needed!! what a little love
I'm so glad we got to him when we did, and praying his recovery keeps going well. Its was quite a plate full with this little man I am so happy to give him a healthy shot at life.. If I could I would have a huge house with walk in closet/enclosures and rescue them all.
Couldn't agree more , ill keep posting new updates and pictures !! He's getting more energy everyday. Also, I couldn't be happier that his eyes finally popped out and are not sunken anymore
