The vet cleaned MOST of it out. My mom and i had to remove the rest of it the next day as we cleaned the area.
The stuff that came out of the Abcess was brown. Kind of looked like peanut butter! It didnt smell at all.

I would keep the fogger runing until they stop drinking, then let the cage dry out completely before the fogging starts up again. That way they will get enough water, then at the same time the air doesnt stay as stagnant and bacteria doesnt have as good a chance to grow.

Progress?
He has started moving around the tank. he climbed down into the bedding and walked around. we had a worm in the bowl and now its gone ( i missed him eating if he even ate it or it climbed out ) we climbed back up the tree, climbed down and climbed all the way up the styrofoam wall decor and now he is resting at the top.
He did all of this with his eyes closed but hes active now.
Idk if hes getting better or worse or if this is an improvement?
any ideas?

Stop drinking? i dont understand. Our fogger comes on every 30 minutes, its running for 15 minutes. then shuts off. and comes back on 30 minutes later. we just lowered the fogger to the lowest setting possible.

I've seen him drink before but i dont always see when he drinks. What you you recommend me to do about the fogger? like how long should i run it?

If you mist three or four times a day for about three minutes at a time you shouldnt need the fogger at all. That really is quite a lot of humidity that will then get stagnant. It will help him out a LOT to hold back on the fogging, especially while he has the infection.

Also, he is active. he's been moving around but he hasnt opened his eyes much yet. i posted about it above. is this a good sign? that he is improving?

these are two vets off of the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Vet site that are located in Miami. i would call them and get him in to one of them as soon as possible.. i agree that your cham seriously needs antibiotics and will not improve without them. infection will spread to other areas of the body quickly and antibiotics need to be gotten to fight this.. he is most likely keeping his eyes closed because they are being affected by the infection.

Seeing that you are in Miami are you willing to go to Marathon?. Jann B has a vet named Dr. Mader who is supposed to be one of the best reptile vets in the country. He knows chameleons also. I am not a vet but if your cham has some type of infection it needs an antibiotic, just like we do.

24 hour update
So as you know (if you have read all the prior post) my little guy hasnt been doing very well.
We are on day 2 of what could be a URI and who knows what infection he has.
We are going to try to take him to the vet tomorrow.
He is somewhat active now. But he refuses to open his eyes. He will open them for a quick second and then have them shut. He also has not eaten any food for 24 hours. We are keeping him hydrated. Can anyone give me some advice about his eyes being closed so much? And something i could do to try to make him more confortable that maybe he will open them? Thanks

If the infection is into his sinuses that can effect his eyes. There is not much you can do at this point other than get him to a vet and get antibiotic. It would not hurt to get him out in the sun for his overall general health for the future. You live in Miami so take advantage of our good weather here! I live in Florida also.

Im sorry to bring the bad news but i've notice a lot of people have been looking at these post.
Pascal couldnt make it through the night. He passed away some time after 1 am.
I miss him so much.
Thank you everyone for your advice on this short journey i had with him. We are already looking into investing into another chameleon from a LEGIT reptile store. Once again, Thank you.

So sorry to hear, this but I had a feeling your cham was not going to make it. I wish he could have gotten the proper care. Certainly not your fault and you think when you take your animal to a vet they should know what they are doing. Glad you are not going to give up on chameleon ownership. They are very rewarding pets to own and now you have us to help you along. We also have two vets on here, who both own chameleons and one of them breeds them so they are great to have on board.
