So I DID have TWO 5.0 Repti-GLO bulbs that were on my compact top. I read somewhere that using the 2.0 and the 5.0 together is recommended and is best so I switched one out. Was that a good idea?
honestly you only need one 5.0 but I don't think that adding the 2.0 is going to harm anything. It is not that much uvb. Why don't you just use the one?
Use the 5.0 and a 25 watt basking bulb. Even 40 watts is too high for a baby. I did the same thing you did. But Bodhi liked it better being able to not have to walk to the front of his cage to get UVB. The canopy top can handle up to 25 watts. When he hits about 6 months I'll move up to a 40 watt bulb. It gets way too hot in those cages and you don't realize it. Especially if you don't have the digital thermometer and hydrometer. With a 50 watt it got up to like 102 degrees, which is to high for that age. Also, make sure that you aren't seeing your cham squint or anything weird with his eyes. I think having two compact UVB bulbs would be too hard on him. Especially when they are new.
Yea, that's probably fine. In the future, if you don't feel like replacing the 2.0 when the time comes you can go to any Lowe's or Home depot and get a 5000k daylight bulb. They're like $2-3 and are very nice and bright. It definitely brightens up everything and the plants o better with it.
I have 3 of those tubes across my 5' x 4' x 2.5' cage, and so far no plants have died, which is good lol
