Bulbs

Are compact bulbs bad for Chameleons' eyes? Also, I have a double lamp fixture, and I was wondering if I could put the UVB and the basking light in there at the same time? I currently just have the UVB going, but I know I need to also have the basking light on for her, but is it okay to have them on simultaneously?

First off no the UVB CFL isn't bad for their eyes. sometime back they had an issue with this, but have sense corrected it. That being said most of us on hear like the linier tube UVB bulbs better because they disburse the UVB better.
Second it in my opinion would be optimal to put them both in the same area especially if your using the CFL that way the cham is getting the most use of the UVBs. Hope this helps :)

I recently purchased the Arcadia 6% from Lightyourreptiles.com. These are the real deal.
Well.... thank you. I appreciate your business.
And Yes....Arcadia makes a great product.
Many people don't know they have been in business in UK and Europe for 50 years. So they have had plenty of time to truly perfect the product!
Thank you. Sincerely, Todd

PS.
This is a great video to watch by Dr. Baines. (It is a bit shaky in camera work)
But explains VERY WELL how UV penetrates out from the bulb.
It compares CFL and linear bulbs and then shows an Arcadia HO t5 at the end.
Notice how the UV from a CFL only penetrates out in inches -- not far at all.
BTW, Dr. Frances Baines is the ONE TRUE GODDESS of reptile lighting. :)
She is a veterinarian that basically is the worlds TOP EXPERT on reptiles and UV light.
It is thanks to her we can better care for these animals.
