What type of wood should I use for the frame of the new cage I’m building?

Doesn't really matter if you treat it against moisture properly, I used pinewood and multiplex on a few enclosures.
Still wouldn't use MDF or particle board as it's basically a wooden sponge.
I used impregnated wood along with OSB (class 3) for my most recent enclosures, made sure to treat the OSB with epoxy and also used 2 layers rubberseal on the insides of the enclosure.
All other wood is painted pinewood.
If you have plenty of money to waste and want to be really sure you can use hardwood and shuttering plywood.
