Bugs in soil

I’m not sure if the soap solution actually kills the larvae though. Soap acts as a wetting agent allowing water to spread and penetrate more evenly. So it may just be a function of the more evenly distributed water and heavier plant uptake that results in drier soil conditions and therefore less desirable for the fungus gnat larvae.

All I ever do is dry them out. It seems to work. It my babies I let them go for food. As they got older just let the soil dry out for a few days, just had mist. This has kept them under control. Further, I do not know if this is related, but I have been lowering my temps, soil probably barely hits low 70s this may slow them as well.

Ok so I read that I can use a soap/water solution and spray that on the top layer of the soil. Will that be ok just to see if it works, I dont want to harm my cham or anything
Peroxide and water solution will kill them. Or you can use nematodes to water your plants with.
Ive also read (but havent tried) that putting an inch of sand on top of the soil will stop them.
