bug burger!? Repashy...

I use bug burger along with gel cubes fortified with calcium for my crickets, and they seem to like it. I find it easy that you can make ahead and stick it in the fridge until you are ready to use:) It has tons of vitamins for the crickets to pass on to my little guy and takes the guess work out of trying these veggies here and those there to try and give them a good ammount of different vitamins. Makes things easier for me.:p
 
Sweet. Do you measure your servings by the directions indicated on the container? (3/4 cup of water. 1/4 cup of the product)
Im kind of tempted to Try out gel cubes :p.
Any specific brand or link you recommend

I use it too (along with some other veggies/fruits). Its a good product. Crickets and dubias love it.

One thing i did realize that when i 'cooked' it according to instructions, to make the wet paste, the bugs would go for it as much. but now that i feed it directly in powdered form they absolutely devour it down.

I mix the bug burger powder with raw sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and sliced up bits of carrot. That seems to get their attention

There are also other products in the market, i think they are called Dino Fuel and Cricket Crack. I havent used those but folk have good things to say about them
 
Also, Avoid Gel Cubes. I think i read someone mention that the cubes can expand after ingestion and can cause problems in Chameleon.

I just end using a shallow tray of water that i change out every couple days. Havent seen any crickets drown in it.
 
Oh no!!!! Where did you hear about gel cubes expanding??? I use them also,,,as well as Bug Burger,,,,crickets seem to love it,,,,,and its good to know,,,if Im feelin lazy theyll chomp the powder form down too!!!!!
 
Nrupaw is referring to something Dr O posted a while back.
A cham had ingested a small piece of Fluckers Ogange Cube gel and it expanded inside the cham's intestine and killd it.

He did a necropsey (spelling!!??) and posted the pics, it was amazing!!

As for the Bug Burger, I love the stuff. I have been using it for about a year and quit having to make "cricket salad" with fruit and veggies because this stuff is truely a "all in one" gut load.

The Kammer's also highly recommend this stuff and have been using it themselves for some time.
 
Oh my,,,i will be disgarding that stuff right away!!!!
Any ideas on what to use as a wet gut load then???

Id highly recommend steering away from chemicals, and anything unnatural when it comes to your chameleons nutrition.
(orange cubes)

Real orange slices work much better, and are much healthier. Its also fairly easy to switch out a few slices of orange every day or two. ;)

I use the superload instead of bug burger. Also included is fruits and veggies.
Crystals for water, when I am just feeding dry. Otherwise from what I gather they get their mositure from the fruits and veggies. I also feed cricket crack when I like alot too.
 
The Bug Burger IS wet gutload. It provides complete insect nutrition AND moisture. In theory, you wouldn't have to supplement it with anything else, although I think a good amount of people do. But if you mix it correctly it should harden into a gelatin consistency that then you can cut into cubes or slices and feed it to everyone as needed, and the moisture should be more than enough to keep insects hydrated.

I personally use veggies in combination with the Repashy Superload, mixed with DinoFuel when I have it. But I have tried the Bug Burger and like it as a product.

The Fluker's orange cubes or water cubes, on the other hand, I don't even sell at the pet store where I work. I avoid selling it like the plague, I just think you're wasting $4-5 on gel cubes with minimal nutritional value of any kind. I always try to steer them towards Repashy products instead, which I think are worth their weight in gold.
 
Check out Sandrachameleons blogs for wet and dry gutloading. I was in reptile shop last week and they had " hydration balls" they were orange small and round. Anyway I showed an interest in them and was given half a bag to try. I put them in with my roaches. I went to clean out roaches yesterday and saw lots of orange pellets. Took a while to work out what they were. The roaches had eaten them and pooped them out. Won't be using them again.:D
 
All i have ever used is the bug burger. It has a sweet smell to it. And like olimpia said its an all-in-one. I follow the directions on bag but usually add a little bit extra water to help keep it moist in the fridge. The crickets love it.

Yes I go by the directions and it works for me. The gel cubes come from petsmart and are called Fluker's cricket quencher calcium fortified gel

As relatively new member with a Kammer Baby, I too recommend BugBurger. I received a bag of it in the kit I received from Kammers. It is so simple to make up and store, and it really is all your crickets need. That is what they use, so I figure it is good enough for me. It makes gut loading so much easier.
 
Bug burger and dino fuel are great gutloads, but I also recommend using a variety of fresh fruits and veggies as well. The nutrients in fresh fruits and veggies (in addition to the other gutloads and/or a dry gutload) are going to be the best for the animals.
