Brumation?

Hello! I noticed that my chameleon never got up from where she slept last night and has dark colors. Is this brumation? I live in the eastern part of the us where temps are around 30-50 degrees during the day. She may have gone through a phase like this last year, but I don't remember.

Mine tend to slow way down in the winter. So instead of free ranging, they stay within 2ft of the basking bulb, and id say food intake goes down about 75%.

But they do not true brumate like my tegu. He just goes in the closet and you dont see him for another 4-5 months, and generally comes out almost the same weight he goes in at.

Okay. Thanks for your input. I did see a thread talking about chameleons that do brumate.

They don’t and I made the mistake with my first Cham not eating bc lower temps. He was actually sick, so now my boys outside if they don’t move from a spot I do the food test. If they move for food then that’s good.

Carly did not move for food. But nothing was actually in the bowl. I will test tomorrow when I feed her. Today is not a feed day.
