Brown spots.

Hello,
I've recently got my first chameleon. When I purchased the 6 month old veiled/yemen chameleon the pet store owner pointed out a small brown spot that had scabbed over slightly, he mentioned that they had taken her to the vets and the vet had no answers and he believed it had been a bite from a locust. One month into having the chameleon the mark is still there and she also has similar marks on her paw and on the underneath side of her tail. I was wondering if anyone had any answers or I should seek help from a vet.

Here is a picture of the underside of her tail, you can just about see them.. She's very agile and doesn't like her movement being restricted so taking a photo proved difficult!

The spots are slightly lumped and slightly scabby so I doubt it's just her colours, the ones on her tail have only appeared over the last few weeks. My camera's battery has died but here's the only photo I have of her side on.

Hi, it is hard to say what the spots are. If i had to guess, it is either wounds from something sharp within the cage. Could be plastic plants with sharp edges, anything metal attatching anything, etc...This could also be some sort of skin infection whether it is fungal or bacterial. Your vet would have to test.

I highly doubt they are insect bites. Generally when they sleep they sleep with there tails curled. This is the only time i can foresee a insect being able to inflict damage close to this.

Edit: The more i looked at the picture make me believe these are some sort of infection.

Thanks for your help. We will take her to the vets tomorrow and get them to have a look. If it is an infection as you said what kind of treatment is given to chameleons?
