broke and really scared

hi i have a male cham that shakes alot i posted a thread a couple of days ago about it and they sed thats how MBD starts that he might need calcium im really scared some thing going to happen to him im realy broke i beary have money for crickets wat can i give him to stop any thing from happening:confused:
 
If you ask really nice, you might be able to send him to some one who has the money to take care of him. If he is in the early stages of MBD, you might not have to, but you will need to take him to a vet which might not be too much (if it's early on.) Shipping and an initial vet check up cost about the same (usually) so... You kind of just have to pick if you're really really low on cash and don't know how far along he is.

Would also like to add onto this, if he is by chance in the later stages of an illness, it wouldn't be a good idea to ship him, it would cause too much stress and potentially kill him.
 
I forgot that... If that's the case, a local person may be a better choice, or if it's really really really bad, then you may want to pay the 15 or so bucks it takes to euthanize him. But if you find a nice vet they may be willing to work out a payment plan, so hopefully you won't have to put him to sleep.

Temperature -75 up to 85, 70, with a thermometer gun
Humidity -N/A, spraying water, dont have one
Plants -yes, fake and real
Placement -my room beside my tv, no, about 15 inches
Location -Grand Prairie TX.
 
If he has MBD he is ill, though it may not be severe. A vet visit is a MUST if he has MBD.
 
You are really not dusting with calcium most feedings? I do it almost every time I feed. Not sh*t load, but I manage to spread the good to the chams. If you cant afford crickets than you should not have any pet. I know its not great to hear that but be smart with decisions. They are not toys you throw away. I have been broke for vets before, but food???? Try mashing veggies up to feed them or Gerber. Best of luck
 
yea it does sound fu*k up but na i feed them i always find a way 2 get them crickets i just dont got money for the vet and i couldnt find calcium at pets mart. i know they aint toys and i dont treat them like that
 
Hi, just how broke are you? The major things you need are a UVB light- tube, not coil type $20, the correct supplements $15 and stop handling him, it stresses them & stress can kill a cham. The cham is young so if you get things turned around quickly he/she should be OK. BUT what you should consider it at that age and where you live it would be easy to get someone to adopt the chameleon who is in a better position to care for it. You keep your stuff & when you have the money or all the things a chameleon needs you can purchase another one. That might be the best thing to do for you and the chameleon.
 
Where do you live? If you really do not have enough money for even food and have to steal supplement (which by the way is not the right kind of supplement he needs) you should give him to someone who can take good care of him and feed him and give him the right supplements. If you are close enough I could even possibly take him off of your hands but chances are you are not.
 
I just finished looking at some of your pictures. Do you own 2 chams and are you keeping them both housed together?
 
............................i had money but recently no work thanks for wanting 2 get him but i cant let him go. and yea i know it isnt right to steal but ill do any thing 4 them. i got a uvb light and i feed him he has always ben ok till this happen
 
Well he is young so it's probably been building since you got him. If you truelly loved him you would send him to someone that can really take care of him. If you do not know what you are doing he will not have a very good life and/or will probably die. Seriously, give him to someone. Seriously, I can take him for you if you are near new Hampshire. Otherwise search around for people near you.
 
You said they are around 4 1/2 months, around 3 months 1/2...they should not be in the same cage. They will likely mate as soon as they are sexually mature if you keep them in the same cage...and IMHO this is not good for the female. If your female starts producing eggs chances are that she will develop MBD too if your husbandry isn't right.

You need to be dusting with a phos.-free calcium at most feedings in addition to using the UVB light. If you haven't been dusting the insects before feeding them to the chameleons, then this is likely why its developing MBD...if that is indeed what it has.

There is a liquid calcium sandoz or calcium gluconate that you should be able to find in a pharmacy that you could buy and give it to them with a dropper. Egg shells from eggs that have been cooked
 that have been powdered with a mortar and pestle can be used as a calcium source in a pinch too.

The problem is that IF IT IS MBD the calcium levels have to be brought back into balance and you have to change your husbandry to keep it there.
