Bringing home new cham, precautionary panacur?

We may be bringing home a new cham next week and I've read through the quarantine thread, which was very helpful and we plan to follow, but we still had a couple questions.

Should we give him a precautionary dosing of panacur even if he's not showing typical signs of parasites, at least until we get him in for an exam?

Also, his current owner seems to be taking great care of him and follow all the "rules", so he seems healthy. His setup is coming with him, how thoroughly do we need to clean it ? I'd like to keep the configuration of his decor to make the transition easier so would prefer to not dismantle it unless necessary.

I know you can never be too careful but would like to do as much as possible to keep this low stress for him , our current population and us.

I recommend getting a fecal on your new guy and not just dosing with panacur. After all panacur only helps with certain parasites. My vet always says why give your animal poison to kill something that you don't even know he has.

Depending on the fecals results would determine the type of cleaning I'd do the the cage.

As always, very good point, Jann. Thanks! Ill be getting a fecal/exam done for him ASAP but I want to be as proactive as possible in case it takes some time to get an appointment.
