Breeding Panthers

I have experience breeding Yemens, and would very much like to move to panthers but have no experience there.

Having kept Yemens for a long time I know exactly what mood they are in from their colors and also their breeding cycle.

My question is, are panthers and yemens similar in their behaviour? Are they harder to keep and breed?

They are very similar, you should have no problems regarding your EXP,water is a bit more of a concern when keeping panthers,Breeding cycle is also similar you will pick it up quite quickly:D
Good luck with them:)

Panthers need to be kept in slightly less extreme temps.
They are no harder to breed.
The colour patterns to watch for when a female is receptive or not does differ, but behaviours are similar.

I'd freak out if I got 40 eggs! I'd consider it a bad thing, and that my female was eating too much. 20-25 is perfect.

I have a female panther that lays no less than 40 eggs a clutch. She is fed 3-4 appropriate sized crickets every other day and nothing on Sundays. A treat here and there and sometimes silkworms instead of crickets. Not overweight and not eating too much.

Her largest clutch has been 54 eggs. I know of other with similar producing females. Not the norm but can happen.

Ryan - How extraordinary!
Have you considered feeding half as much (not that I think you are feeding too much now), to see if there is improvement? or is this a large female, for whom this doesnt seem extreme?

I used to feed her more and cut back a lot. She is a nice size but not huge. She just laid the clutch of 54 so I am cutting her back a bit. It is crazy nothing seems to be able to slow her down.

I have 4 eggs sweating and two split right now from her first clutch. I am waiting for heads to appear. I am curious to see how healthy the babies are. All the eggs were and appear to still be good. They are in two containers containing 20 eggs each. Only one container is showing activity.

I have a thread going on her that I will update with her and their progress. All 8 of my other females produce normal clutches and even get fed a bit more.
