Breeding a non receptive veiled?

what would happen if a male veiled breed to a non receptive female, would they produce babies or not. Just curious.

It won't happen. She wouldn't let him. If she is non-receptive, she doesn't want to be bred.

They would probably kill eachother during the breeding attempt so you wouldn't have to worry about the eggs.

It won't happen. He isn't goin to just jump on her and do the deed. She has to let him, and as Jannb said, it could result in death in not just one of the lizards, but possibly both.

it can happen i just want to know if this will produce offspring it happens in the wild. I have a male that if i show him to a female receptive or not he will jump on her instantly, so i know it can happen, will it produce offspring or is it like they have to be receptive to be fertile.

If they mate there will be fertile eggs as a rule. Its just not worth the risk to put them together if the female is showing non-receptive.

I'm just going out on a limb here, but going from what I know from dogs and cats, these can't get pregnant when not in heat. So I imagine it may be a similar case for female chameleons, even if he were to mount her, I don't think she would be capable of fertilizing eggs? Perhaps someone with more knowledge on the subject can correct me if I'm wrong, but it's just a thought.

Thats what im trying to say do they have to be receptive to get pregnant. Im not going to mate a non-receptive female to all the (By the Book People). I just know it can and does happen, im just wondering if they have to be in the so called heat (receptive).

I dont agree with you with this. I have seen a male veiled run straight to the female when she was unreceptive, he head but her, got on her and they mated and the female did nothing once the male was on her. A fertile clutch was produced.

Yea, I've read on here more than one where the male has head but the female and killed her.

Although it may have happened in that case, generally it won't happen. It is dangerous to both animals and I think would be very unresponsible as a keeper to do it. JMHO

Ive never heard of a male killing the female with a headbut but I have heard that a person left a huge male with a not so big female and when he came back the female was in the males mouth. The male wont kill her with headbuts. I have seen males start to get agitated and headbut the female when she just moves a bit while he is ontop of her.
