anyone else getting rewards to watch the Breeders Cup? I love thoroughbred racing it's where I got my start in horse shoeing.

What do you mean by rewards? I love everything about horses and admit that watching those beautiful creatures run is exciting, but I don't care a bit about the whole winning and betting scene. I worry about the pressure to breed and train for speed, the potential abuses and the traumatic injuries that result from the sport.

That was suppose to be ready my phone auto corrected. There is abuses in all industries. I have worked in the thoroughbred racing. And those horses are very well taken care of. But I do agree that a lot of them are lamed up too early due to pressure and breeding for speed. Racing is in my family so for me I love it

I'm sure most are well treated. The ones I worry about are the ones that never pay off, that break down and won't earn their way, end up in constant pain, or don't happen to have desirable genetic traits to pass on. And, if their temperaments don't lend themselves for other types of riding or adoption what happens to them? I had a childhood friend who adopted a mare who luckily was well suited for riding. She was kind and level headed.
