I have read the safe plant list, but I dont really remember anything about Lilacs. We are cutting down out lilac tree (I think they are trees?) and I was wondering, if I strip the bark, If it would be safe like that? Or do I still need to either bake, or do the boiling water system?

I don't know if it is safe, but if you were to use it I would bake it or boil it. This kill all the parasites and bacteria.

Bake branches at 200*F in an oven for a minute thirty, remove and let cool. Be sure and round off any edges on the branch where old pieces of twigs were removed.

Side note: do NOT leave branches unattended for any length of time.
