Branches too slippery?

Does anyone have any experience with crepe myrtle branches used in their set up? They are light, yet sturdy and very smooth branches so I feel like harvesting some branches from my tree would be a good idea. My only concern is that they might be too slippery for my future cham. Does anyone have any experience with this tree?

Crepe Myrtle is what I use. I took a ton of different size branches from my parents' house when they trimmed theirs back. They still have bark on them, and some pieces have lichen, so there is plenty of texture for the chameleon to grip.
