Books on Chameleons?

I'm looking for two books:
  • I'm looking for informative books on Chams that explore the physical characteristics, skeletal, nervous system and other aspects of the biology. I see several books that seem to be geared towards care and breeding, but nothing about the science behind the animal.
  • I'm also hunting down a good book over chameleon behavior that covers raising and feeding as well as common illnesses. A "Guide Book" if you will.

I've come across these, can anyone recommend any of these or another book that would suit my needs?

Crap, for a moment I thought I was at the university book store picking out course books for a class..... $$$$:eek::eek:

I would love to get the first book, I will search for it on Amazon or Barnes and Noble. At $60 it's a bit pricey, but a good read/ study. Thanks for the suggestions!

You may want to try ABE Books, Half.com, or some of the actual on-line college bookstores for a used version of it. I have three of the books you listed, and while each has some good information, none of them has exactly what I 'm looking for on supplementation by species and life stage, diseases, recognition of vitamin deficiency, etc. So far I've spent around $40 on used books anyway, so I probably should have just spent $60.for something like this in the first place to get what I need. Just a thought!

@kinyonga Do you get good use out of this book? refer to it often?

Copies of the 3 chapters I coauthored from "The Biology of Chameleons" (Chapters 2, 4 and 10) are available as PDFs on my website (publication #s 7, 8, & 9 under "Peer-Reviewed Publications"): http://www.chamaeleonidae.com/publications.html

Chapters 1, 3 and 5 are available as PDFs on Anthony's website (under book chapters in Publications): http://anthonyherrel.fr

Chapter 6 is available as a PDF on Devi Stuart-Fox's website: https://devistuartfox.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/biology-of-chameleons-chapter-6-stuart-fox.pdf

Chapter 7 is available as a PDF on Krystal and Michele's ResearchGate page: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/259285040_Evolution_and_biogeography_of_chameleons

Chapter 9 is available as a PDF on Arnau Bolet and Susan Evan's ResearchGate page: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/260157264_Fossil_History_of_Chameleons

Chapters 8, however, you'll have to buy the book for. Its worth having the book anyway if you are interested in an in depth view of chameleon biology.

Thanks! I'll check them out and see if it's for me. I can't stand reading on a computer screen or even a tablet. I'm old so I'm old school, I like to have a BOOK in my hand! ;)

I recommend "Chameleons: Nature's Hidden Jewels" by J. Croom. This book offers an in-depth look at Cham biology, including aspects of physiology, skeleton, and nervous system.

To understand their behavior and care, "The Chameleon Handbook" by P. Whiteker may be helpful - it covers the topics of rearing, feeding and disease. I think she's the best. I once wrote about this using narrative essay topics, found personal narrative ideas for an essay for this. I also recommend “Chameleons: Their Care and Breeding” by L. Trapp. This book discusses the physical aspects of chamakh. But the first one will definitely be better!

Thank you, I didn't have to look for it myself.

Wow, I thought I had to buy those books. But I am glad to know that I can read them for free. I appreciate you, you made my day. I recently discovered ezeewallet casino and it's now my go-to platform for real-money gambling. The seamless transactions using their electronic wallet have truly enhanced my gaming experience. With a growing number of eZeeWallet casinos, it's clear that they are becoming a trusted choice for players looking for a hassle-free and secure way to manage their funds.
