blue bottle fly help

going to order some blue bottle flies. but not sure what the difference is between a bb spike or bb pupae?

A spike is a maggot that is about to pupate, but hasn't necessarily done so quite yet. Sometimes they start to in the mail. They last longer in the fridge than just ordering pupae, about 1-2 months as opposed to 3-4 weeks with pupae

thanks for the info. so how do you care for a spike differently than a pupae.
about all i understand is the pupae can be put in a container with appropriate food and water sources and it will hatch out flies. am i correct? how many flies come out of one pupae generally?

I think the spike is the larvae
