Blood in cage!!!! Please someone-Miff

Today I was cleaning out my female Jackson's cage and found a droplet of blood with no fecal around it. I checked her out and there is nothing visibly cut or hurt that could be the cause. I'm scared this came out of her vent. Going to vet tommrow. Any suggestions on what this could be? Please any info will help, she is acting ok. She ate half of what she normally eats today. She drank a little bit. Is not lethargic but is hiding out and moves branches throughout the day.

I do not believe she can be. I'm not exactly sure of her age but she is only 2 1/2 inches nose to vent

oh...well surely thats not the case...im sorry im afraid i can't be of any help when my friends and I were little his cousin from Hawaii smuggled a wc male and female Jackson in a wendy's cup on a plane (this was waaayyy before 9/11) and we grew up with them and I always thought they were some of the strangest of the chameleon families, especially when it comes to birth...but ya she's def. too small in my opinion for any of those issues to even be relevant....but like i said, jacksons are WEIRD...heck my last one i bought had a rare skin disease and passed...nothing i did wrong, just purchased him that way...hope things turn out ok

Well thank you for your concern!!
Anyone else have any advice? Anyone with a female jack possibly or knows about them? Here is a couple pic's I just took before she went to bed. I was told she wasen't gravid the last time I posted pictures of her. She has gotten a bit rounder since then but since she is so young I figured she was just gaining weight?

I dont have a clue what it could be.. My guess would be parasites or something of that sort.

BLAHH parasites??? These vets here are so useless. I have to wonder sometimes if they just take my fecal samples and dump them in the trash in the back and take my money. I was hoping someone would tell me she was having her period...jk....not really funny though

Hi!

Not to be stupid, but are you sure it's her blood? In the very first picture you have a scrape on your finger. Maybe you scraped it cleaning up her cage and didn't notice it at the time? Chameleon cages are kept wet enough that it might not have dried up over night.

I don't have any fresh cuts that I know of, but that is a very good possiblity. None the less I brought her in today and the vet gave the the all clear, so no parasites. I'm getting her fecal re-tested though in a week just to be sure. And I'm gonna keep an eye out for more blood. Other then that the vet thought she was the cutest little toad he'd ever seen and man handled her like the last guy did. And all the receptionists fell in love and one girl even took a pic of her. And to think I thought she was the ugly duckling? My male jackson doesn't even get that much attention!!

What supplement do you use? I thought I had blood in my baby bins a few weeks ago and was freaking out over it but it turned out it was the Repashy Calcium plus power in one of the feeder cups. Take a bit of your supplement that you use for dusting your crickets and put a drop of water on it. Repashy Calcium Plus will turn blood red when it gets wet. Just a thought.

I use all Rep-Cal products. They are all white powders. good thought tho!

Repashy is light grey almost white but that is the thing about it. It turns red when wet only.

Just checked all my supplements. The Cal without D3 is white when wet. The herptivite is a very pale pale yellow and the Cal with D3 has a slight orange tint. I don't think it would be these. I don't have anything else I can think of that would have gotten in there, unless somehow i did cut myself and it was indeed my blood. Just hoping i never find it again. I'm keeping an eye out though

Don't know if this helps but I have a cham that spotted a tiny bit of blood when he passed a significantly larger fecal. Like he slightly tore his vent while passing it. He had been constipated. Never had it happen again. Was her fecal unusually large that day?

Normal size for her. It may have been a bit rounder then usual. Thats a real possablity though. Did your guy do ok after he possibly tore his vent? Meaning no vet visit or antibiotics etc?
