Blood in cage

Hi Guys, I'm a new owner, got my panther at the end of august and he seems to have settled well albeit a bit on edge and mistaking my fingers for food. He's eating and pooing like he should and has just had his first shed, he's roughly 7-8 months old.

I noticed last night that there is a patch of blood on his basking log, probably the diameter of a 2p piece. He doesn't seem to have any cuts or to be uncomfortable so thought it might be discharge or cricket blood, has anyone seen similar before?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forums! The picture of your cham looks pretty sweet, nice! As for the blood.... it's hard telling what it could be from if there are no cuts anywhere on the chameleon. It could very well be from an insect. I've had bug guts and blood spattered on walls, branches, screen.... It tends to happen sometimes when a huge tongue smacks you at super speed. So it COULD be that, but that's not a guarantee.

Nice thanks! Hopefully nothing to worry about then, I'll keep an eye on him

Welcome to the forums and congrats on that handsome boy. Parasites can cause a bit of bleeding sometime. I'd recommend a fecal test from the vet to check for parasites.
Perfect thanks very much for the advice! I'll give them a call now
